Varsity and Junior Varsity field sports crucial elements among Zama
High School's extracurricular activities. Football and Soccer games, the
schools' two most popular sports, regularly draw sizable crowds from the
surrounding community. Both sports have consistently been the
the center of extracurricular attraction for Zama High School, with
standings regularly reported in local newspapers, including the Torii
and game edits being regularly filmed and assembled for broadcast on ZHS CCTV
or the Commander's Access Channel USARJ 12.
|
Track and Field, Cross-Country, Tennis, and Cheerleading are also
popular extra-curricular activities which form the rest of ZHS's outdoor
sports. Cheerleading, an all-year sport, is particularly difficult,
with very competitive and rigorous tryouts prior to
joining.

The apex of the football season occurs during during the week prior to
the Homecoming Game. During every day of this Spirit Week,
students wear unusual costumes and participate in outrageous
lunchtime activities and competitions, seeking to display their
support for the football team and their school spirit. The Homecoming
Game is followed by The Homecoming Dance, which was held
this year in the new Camp Zama Community Cultural Center.
