Special Activities, Clubs and Organizations

Band and Chorus The band and chorus classes of Zama High School are especially strong this year. The Jazz Band is a newly formed section, and works closely with the three levels of band. Chorus is popular as well, and is presently preparing for the Far East Choir Competition in April.

Broadcasting An after-school activity where students organize, direct, and film the daily morning broadcast. Students who perform the broadcast daily can also receive Broadcasting as a class credit.

Computer Club The ZHS Computer Club is presently involved in spreading technological expertice among the students by demonstrating how the computer can revolutionize traditional means of research and organization. The Computer Club seeks to keep the school technologically current.

FBLA - Future Business Leaders of America club aimed at introducing students to financial management, business strategies, and investment, as well as the responsibilities of entrepreneurship.

Le Club Francais - The ZHS French Club explores French culture, literature, and traditions by organizing festivals, dramatic productions, and bake sales.

National Honor Society - Students who excel academically who serve as role-models for the student body and regularly assemble to provide services for the school. The NHS offers free tutoring throughout the year to students having difficulty in one or more subjects, and provides services to give back to the community what has been given to the school.

Science Symposium A class/club where students prepare projects for the annual Science Symposium competition at Tsukuba. Students stay after school to plan their projects, perform experiments, and analyze their results with statistical methods.

SIP Students can participate in the School Improvement Plan by serving on a number of various committees of the School Improvement Team. There, students can represent the student body while serving hand-in-hand with ZHS faculty and members of the community to improve the quality of education and learning environment for the students.

Spanish Club - A large collection of students who share a common interest in Spanish culture and heritage, and who organize special activities during National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Student Council - A large board of ZHS students representing the student body. Student Council is involved in planning school-wide events, such as Spirit Week, as well as school dances.
