Zama American High School

Zama American High School (7-12) is a United States Department of Defense Dependent School located on the outskirts of Tokyo, Japan. The students at Zama High School have sponsors working for the U.S. Department of Defense, either as active duty military personnel in the U.S. Army, Navy, or Air Force, or as DoD civilian employees.

The Zama-Atsugi community is multi-cultural. Many of the students' families are bicultural, and the varied ethnic backgrounds allow for a unique and stimulating interaction between all of the cultures.

Zama American High School is a place for students to think, question, and reason about global, environmental, and school concerns for the benefit of the individual and society. We believe students should be exposed to the uniqueness of cultures and lifestyles, to the importance of education as a lifelong process, and to the necessity of striving for excellence. Students will exhibit the qualities of flexibility, creativity, and productivity in order to function successfully in a changing world.
